Pilates at Bull Dawg
Pilates is a system of exercises used to address posture, flexibility, coordination, strength, breathing patterns, and overall mind and body awareness. At Bull Dawg, we offer Pilates as a fitness program, and it can also be used as part of your physical therapy treatment. After a comprehensive evaluation, your physical therapist will determine if a Pilates-based treatment plan is right for you.
Pilates in Physical Therapy
Physical therapists often use Pilates as part of rehabilitation for injuries or conditions including:
Low back pain or neck pain
Sprains, strains, or shoulder conditions like tendonitis or bursitis
Arthritis or degenerative changes, and disc or nerve involvement
Pre/Post-natal health such as diastasis recti, abdominal and pelvic floor weakness
Pilates Mat
Pilates mat is a low impact exercise developed to increase flexibility while strengthening the core musculature (spine, abdomen, pelvis, and hips). The exercises are performed in a slow, controlled and precise manner, resulting in improved body alignment and posture.
Pilates Reformer
The Pilates reformer is a versatile piece of equipment that uses springs to create resistance or offer assistance. Exercises on the reformer work the entire body and are appropriate for all ages and fitness levels – from the novice to the elite athlete. Reformer sessions provide a refreshing and energizing workout that will improve muscle tone, flexibility, balance, and coordination.
Pilates Classes
We offer Pilates classes for small groups or private lessons with our Pilates-certified instructor to improve core control, coordination, standing alignment, and balance. A series of 3 introductory private lessons must be completed before attending your first Pilates reformer group training. Advance registration is required, and a 24-hour cancellation notice is required, or the session will be forfeited.
